Grandma Kiki has a very special birthday coming up at the end of this week. I'm not sure if she wants me to share how many years young she is, but rest assured a fantastic milestone birthday is on the horizon. Back at Henry's 1st birthday party at the end of July Grandpa John approached me and said he thought a family vacation to celebrate her big day was in order. Tim & I couldn't have been more thrilled to have the opportunity to spend some special vacay time with our family. The gorgeous beach setting we ended up visiting didn't hurt either!! So last Wednesday, the day after New Years Day, the boys and I headed to the airport to fly down to Grand Cayman.
I cannot say enough about the island. The people are fantastic, accommodating and friendly. There were great shops and restaurants abounding. And the scenery? Unparalleled. I seriously have Grand Cayman at the top of my list of places I want to run away to! The trip was a quick one, but we filled up every moment with fun in the sun, and I took nearly 500 pictures to document it all. I'm going to post this in three posts so I can cover all of the amazing adventures we had without flooding you all with a million photos at once. Also I don't really want the trip to be over, so this is my way of prolonging it! lol. Alright, onto day one!!
We arrived in the evening on January 2, got settled in, had a lovely dinner, then put those exhausted boys to bed. Since that was just a short day on the Island I'm counting the next day as Day 1. We collectively decided that we would spend our first full day just hanging out at the beach and pool. It was perfect. You'd be astounded at how warm the ocean water was. The boys became beach babes at once, loving the sand and surf. We played, made sand volcanos, jumped in waves, swam in the pool, and took one hell of a nap! It was a perfect day!

After a day in the sun and sand we headed downtown where we had a delicious dinner at
Guy Harvey's. If you happen to be traveling to Grand Cayman (and please, if it's an option, do it!!!) you must have dinner here. We sat on an enclosed outdoor patio and it was gorgeous. We had a ton of fun and left with full bellies!

Y'all look so happy!! I'm completely jealous of your trip. Was Guy Harveys like the same person who makes the fish t-shirts?
