Hawaii - Part One

So it turns out I was having too much fun in Hawaii and didn't get a chance to blog about it while we were gone. Sorry to take such a long break, but we were busy relaxing and having a wonderful time! I'm not sure if I mentioned before, but yesterday was mine and Tim's 6th wedding anniversary. We were planning on going to Maui for our 5 year anniversary, but seeing as I was about 7 months pregnant we decided to push it back a year. There are so many great outdoor activities (and tropical drinks!) and frankly the trip wouldn't have been as fun if I was super pregnant. So we put the trip on hold and went this year instead. It was hard to leave our boys, but it was so nice to have some together time. Tim & I have been together for 13 years now and I love that we still have as much fun together as we did in the beginning. I want to savor that and hang onto it. It's a really precious gift that we still enjoy each other so much and I want to make sure we always do, after all, one day the boys will be gone and it will be just us again. Better make sure we still like each other!!! lol. Also I want the boys to grow up seeing an example of a happy, healthy relationship, so that hopefully they'll find that in their own lives. Anyway, enough sappiness.... onto pictures!!! I took nearly 500, so this will be a post in two parts! Enjoy!

The first day we drove to Iao Valley State Park to hike up to the Iao needle. The park is in the midst of a rainforest and is lovely. We also played in some waterfalls and the lao stream that runs through the park. It was heavenly.

The next day we started off the morning by heading to the Maui Swap meet. There were tons of vendors and local artists selling local Hawaiian items. Oh, and there was shaved ice!!!

Dress: Express Printed Racerback Tank Dress
Hat: Juicy Couture Striped Fedora

Next we drove to Makena to hang out and boogie board at Big Beach.

That night we had a celebratory dinner at Longhi's in Wailea.
Dress: Cooperative Glow in the Dark Sundress (yes, it really glows. lol)

The next day we drove to Paia, which is an awesome little surf town with a hippy vibe. It has great shops and restaurants and an overall awesome feel. We shopped a bit, then stopped for coffee and listened to a musician playing a Hawaiian steel guitar. Oh, and I found some people dedicated to defending Hawaii which cracked me up b/c Maui is so easy going and peaceful, with Paia being the epitome of laid-backness. lol.

Coverup: last season J Crew - similar

That night we headed to The Old Lahaina Luau. I went to the Luau back when I visited Maui with my parents and bestie about 10 years ago and loved it. I knew it was something Tim & I couldn't miss. We had a fantastic time. We took pictures under the historic Lahaina banyan tree, got hand carved turtles for the boys, ate fantastic food & watched a fabulous show. Oh, and there was an open bar. Tim really enjoyed that part!! ;)

Dress: Aqua Crochet Back Maxi

Stay tuned for part two!!!
