Goodbye Old Friend

Today we say goodbye to our old pal Buddy. Buddy was our family pet for many years, but has been my Mom's dog for several years now. At 16 years old he was extremely old for a big dog (lab/shepherd mix) and lived a fabulous life. I'll never forget the day we got him. It was the summer after 8th grade and my Mom and I went to the local Humane Society. My parents had agreed that we could get a dog, but told me no puppies and no males. Of course the dog I fell in love with was a 3 month old male puppy. My Mom couldn't resist  him either, and as soon as we brought him home my Dad also fell in love. He's been a fabulous friend and companion and I'm so sad to see him go. I hope that we'll meet again one day my sweet Bud.
