Museums in Chicago are crazy expensive friends. I mean crazy. At several museums parking alone is $20. Luckily the
Chicago Public Libraries have passes that you can check out for a week where you get passes for 4 into several local museums/places of interest. It's a really wonderful program that I should be taking advantage of more often. Being the procrastinator that I am I realized that the public schools will be out soon and I better use some passes while they're still available, because soon they'll be hard to come by. When we went to the library last week the pass for
Adler Planetarium was free so I grabbed it.
Timmy has been obsessed with anything space lately. Planets, rockets, astronauts, and Saturn, or Sat-tren as he says it. He's way into Sattren!! Recently he told Tim he wanted to be a scientist when he grew up so he could be an astronaut. I thought that was pretty brilliant. He just has space on the brain! Another funny space story - when we were in St. Louis for Gracie's graduation we went to Tim's brother's baseball game. On the way there I asked Timmy if he wanted to play baseball when he grew up. He responded "ummm.... I'll just be an astronaut" then followed it up with "you need to make that happen." Hahaha. Ok, so NASA, I'm informing you now that you need to get the space program back in action by the time my kid grows up!!! Anyway all of this led me to believe that the Planetarium would be a big hit, and I was right. They have a great exhibit called
Planet Explorers for kids ages 3-8. You get to fly rocket ships to Planet X, where you can explore the new planet. There are costumes to wear, space shuttles to navigate, and a new planet to check out. Timmy had a great time. I also have to say the restaurant at Adler is pretty fantastic! lol. It was a great day and Timmy didn't want to leave at all. I promised him we'd go back soon and next time bring Daddy! I just need to snag more passes!
